Acting Chairman of BNP, Tarique Rahman, asserted, "Bangladesh is presently in the clutches of robbers and murderers; and their name is Awami League, with Sheikh Hasina at its helm."

He made these remarks during his speech on Monday as the chief guest at the Iftar Mahfil organized by BNP in Narayanganj.

Tarique Rahman stated, "What does the dacoit group known as Awami League do? They rob people's votes. In the past three elections, they've hijacked the people's votes, depriving them of their voice. Additionally, they've plundered people's wealth, growing rich and smuggling assets abroad."

He asserted, "This dacoit group has an organization called Chhatra League. The actions of this terrorist organization, Chhatra League, include murder, robbery, extortion, illegal occupation of homes and businesses, and extortion from rural areas to the capital, Dhaka. They brutally murdered Abrar, a promising student of BUET, through fatal beating."

Tarique Rahman remarked, "On January 7, people refrained from voting because they yearn for change. They desire to afford what they need with their earnings without facing constant price hikes. People don't wish to endure daily occurrences of murders and forced disappearances; they simply want to live in peace. We urged the people to boycott the sham elections, and they responded by boycotting."

He stated, "The freedom fighters fought tirelessly for our independence in 1971. In the 1990s, the people stood against the dictatorial Ershad government and reinstated democracy. Now, it's our turn to fight for the restoration of democracy. Democracy must be reclaimed through united efforts and solidarity with the people."
