Islami Andolan Bangladesh has given the government an ultimatum to arrest those involved in the murder of two sibling construction workers in Madhukhali, Faridpur, by next Wednesday. The ultimatum was announced by Mufti Syed Muhammad Fayezul Karim, the Senior Naib Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, during a brief rally before a protest march from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram after Friday prayers.
Syed Muhammad Fayezul Karim stated that if the arrests are not made, there will be protest marches in all districts and metropolitan areas across the country next Friday, followed by even more stringent actions. He warned that if the government fails, a course of action will be initiated that will compel the people of Bangladesh to take to the streets, forcing the government to arrest the culprits and also to oust this illegitimate government, InshaAllah.
Prior to this, supporters and members of the party organized a march from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram, which went through Paltan More and circled back to the front of Baitul Mukarram’s north gate. The protest was organized by Islami Andolan Bangladesh Dhaka Mahanagar North and South, demanding the swift arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in the murder of the innocent sibling workers in Madhukhali by some violent extremists.
He further criticized the current government as being puppeteered by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He mentioned that the two brothers were tied up and tortured all night before being killed. He questioned why they were killed, addressing rumors that they had set fire to a temple, which he clarified was proven untrue. They were working at the time, yet a week has passed without the government arresting the murderers!
Regarding the temple arson, Fayezul Karim urged for a thorough investigation and justice based on the findings. He also demanded that those who killed the two workers must be tried on the soil of Bengal. He accused the Awami League government of selling the Muslims of Bangladesh to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in exchange for power, stating that the Muslims in this country are not free but are shackled by chains of servitude."
