BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi went to Motijheel in the morning to distribute leaflets and conduct mass communication in favour of boycotting the 12th Parliament elections and initiating a non-cooperation movement.
Disregarding the winter chill, he distributed leaflets alongside some leaders and activists on Wednesday (January 3). During this period, the BNP leader urged fellow citizens to boycott the January 7th election.
After the mass demonstration scheduled for October 28 in Nayapaltan was thwarted, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called for a strike. Subsequently, many BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul, were arrested and are currently in jail, while others remain in hiding. Despite these conditions, the BNP and their allied parties continue to organise strikes and blockade programmes one after another.
Among the leaders currently out of jail, Rizvi consistently conducts virtual briefings to announce the party's programmes. Rizvi has been observed participating in party programmes in Narayanganj, Rajshahi, and Comilla. After conducting the programme briefly, he went back into 'hiding'.
This morning, Rizvi and activists distributed leaflets promoting a vote boycott and a non-cooperation movement in the Motijheel AGB Colony market. During this event, Rizvi accused ruling party leaders and activists of resorting to bank robberies, embezzlement, and smuggling money abroad for their happiness without caring about the country or its people.
He emphasised that the ongoing election was not genuine but a deceitful ploy. Rizvi urged people not to go to the polling stations and to unite against such practices.
Among those present during this event were the health affairs secretary of the central BNP, Rafiqul Islam, Assistant Youth Affairs Secretary Mir Newaz Ali Newaz, Co-Health Secretary Dr Parvez Reza Kakon, Central Executive Committee member, and former Chhatra Dal general secretary Akramul Hasan Mintu, among others.
