On Wednesday, January 17, a four-member election expert team from the European Union (EU) that came to Dhaka for a two-month monitoring mission of the 12th National Parliament election held a meeting with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The virtual meeting was held at 5 pm and concluded at 6:20 pm.
During the meeting, the BNP delegation was led by Abdul Moyeen Khan, the party's standing committee member. Other attendees included Nazrul Islam Khan, advisory council member Ismail Zabiullah, organising secretary Shama Obaid, international affairs secretary Humayun Kabir, and human rights affairs secretary Advocate Asaduzzaman Asad.
Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media cell, confirmed the meeting.
Sources indicate that the BNP presented various images from polling stations, highlighted complaints from independent candidates regarding government interference after the election, and pointed out multiple irregularities in the voting process.
Moyeen Khan, a member of the BNP standing committee, stated, "We have highlighted the truth of what happened in the election. The election observation team should know why the country's people did not go to the polling stations."
The EU election expert team delegation members present at the meeting were David Noel Ward (Election Expert), Alexander Matus (Electoral Analyst), Charlotte Souibes (Electoral Analyst), and Rebecca Cox (Legal Expert). The four-member EU electoral expert team arrived in Dhaka on November 29.
