Awami League has become highly arrogant after the election: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir voiced his concern that "The ruling Awami has grown excessively arrogant after forcefully seizing power through the 12th national parliament election." He conveyed this dissatisfaction in a media statement released on Saturday.

Strongly condemning the killing of BNP leader Mohammad Musa, an expatriate, in Raujan, Chittagong, Mirza Fakhrul expressed his outrage, saying, "The occupying Awami ruling, fearing a loss of power following the sham elections on January 7, has intensified its ruthless and brutal targeting of opposition leaders, including BNP members. Mohammad Musa, an expatriate BNP leader, fell victim to a brutal and demonic assault by local Awami militants in Raujan, Chittagong. His death further darkens the brutal history of the ruling Awami atrocities. Words fail to condemn this brutal murder adequately."

He continued, "The Awami League's tradition is to disregard people's will and perpetuate a reign of terror and misrule in the country through acts of terrorism and murder. Lies and deception are the hallmarks of their governance. They are so insensitive in shedding human blood that they derive pleasure from inflicting harm."

BNP's Secretary General remarked, "The Awami ruling power elites have grown excessively arrogant by manipulating law enforcement agencies and the public administration to seize power through the one-sided election on January 7. The country lacks the rule of law. Consequently, despite the ruling party's terrorists perpetrating killings and violence, they escape justice with state backing. As a result, BNP and opposition leaders and activists have become targets. However, no authoritarian regime can sustain itself for long by trampling over its people. Its days are numbered."

In his statement, BNP Secretary General demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators of Mohammad Musa’s killing. He offered prayers for the departed soul of Mohammad Musa and extended heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family members.
