Titumir College Chhatra League assaults journalist with rod

Chhatra League leaders and activists from Government Titumir College assaulted Sabbir Ahmed, a correspondent for Somoyer Alo, using rods and batons. Sabbir Ahmed sustained severe injuries and was admitted to the hospital, with his head and various body parts covered in blood.

The attack occurred on the main road in front of Akkachur Rahman Ankhi Hall of Titumir College while Sabbir was on his way to the office from an Iftar party on Friday afternoon.

According to sources, Titumir College Chhatra League President Ripon Miah and General Secretary Mahmudul Haque Jewel Moral spearheaded the assault, accompanied by SM Imrul Rudra, Assistant Secretary of the College Chhatra League, following a Facebook post.

Sabbir Ahmed recounted the incident: "I went to the campus to attend the Iftar party organized by my department. Chhatra League leader SM Imrul Rudra approached me there. At the end of the Iftar, Rudra and leaders and activists from Ankhi Hall launched an ambush on me."

He further described being struck with rods and sticks until he lost consciousness.

Sabbir Ahmed also mentioned that Titumir College Chhatra League President Ripon Mia and General Secretary Mahmudul Haque Jewel wield considerable influence over the college administration. Despite any untoward incidents on campus, the administration fails to take action.

Repeated attempts to contact Titumir College Chhatra League President Ripon Mia via phone were unsuccessful, as his number was found to be switched off.

Upon informing Central Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan about the attack, they insisted that action must be taken against the perpetrators.
