The acting chairman of BNP, Tarique Rahman has stated, "The country is now in the grip of malevolent forces. The people are suffering. We must plead with Allah for deliverance from these evil forces."

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a special prayer and Iftar gathering organized on the occasion of the first death anniversary of the mother of senior journalist Atiqur Rahman Rimon and Ferdousi Begum, the founding chairman of 'FH Foundation', in Gabtoli, Bogura, on Monday.

Tarique Rahman expressed, "All institutions in the country are on the brink of destruction. In essence, the country itself is teetering on the edge of ruin. People in both rural and urban areas are suffering. Let us pray to Allah to liberate the people of the country. We hope the country can emerge from this dark shadow. As a political party, we are committed to protecting the interests of the country and its people."

He also called for prayers for those who have been killed and persecuted in past movements and struggles.

During this time, Tarique Rahman also prayed for the recovery of the party's Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at the Evercare Hospital in the capital. He also sought prayers from everyone so that he, along with his wife and children, can return to the country.

Later, at an Iftar and prayer meeting organized by Gazipur Metropolitan BNP, Tarique Rahman said, "Today, our country has fallen into the hands of a band of robbers. Those in power are not supported by the people of Bangladesh; they are ruling through the force of arms and muscle power. Every sector of the country is being destroyed. Corruption is encouraged. Many instances of corruption among Awami League members have been exposed in the media, but they are not being brought under the law. There is no accountability in the country. Those in power through corruption will always encourage corruption. Just as there is a rush to illegally seize power, corruption has also proliferated."

He also highlighted the issue of killings at the border, saying, "A neighboring country is shooting and killing our people at the border. Yet, the government does not have the courage to protest. It's a government of robbers and the corrupt, indebted to their masters. Today, those in the government openly say that their masters have instructed them to keep the robber and corrupt government in power."
