BNP will refrain from participating in the upazila elections: Moyeen Khan

None of the BNP leaders are expressing disappointment. According to Moyeen Khan, a member of the party's standing committee, the government will be ousted through democratic means. He made these remarks while inquiring about the well-being of the family of former Juba Dal vice president SM Jahangir, who was recently released from prison on Wednesday, April 3rd.

Regarding the party's participation in the upazila council elections, Moyeen Khan stated they would not engage in sham elections but would participate according to the people's will. He emphasized that it's up to the government to decide whether to restore voting rights. Khan criticized the Awami League, accusing them of engaging in power politics while asserting that the BNP's politics aim to safeguard people's rights.

Khan expressed concern over the unprecedented number of cases filed against opposition leaders and activists, labeling it as excessive torture. He highlighted that 1 lakh cases have been filed against the opposition party, implicating around 50 lakh activists. Comparing globally, Moyeen Khan claimed that no other government has targeted opposition leaders and activists to this extent.

Further, Moyeen Khan alleged an increase in the number of families exploiting resources, from 22 during the Pakistan period to 222. He accused these families of looting and smuggling the country's resources abroad.

Lastly, Moyeen Khan noted the prevailing resentment among Bangladesh's common people, emphasizing their hardship and frustration. He urged the government to address these grievances.

He remarked that the ordinary people of Bangladesh are gripped by frustration and animosity. He emphasized that people cannot alleviate their suffering by fasting all day. The government has to answer the questions.
