In the capital, voter turnout remains low

On the day of polling for the 12th National Assembly elections, the capital witnessed notably low voter turnout across most polling centres, with several empty stations.

Among these centres were Chalaband Government Primary School and Haji Kofil Uddin High School in Ward No. 47 of Dhaka-18. Despite an expected voter count of around 2,500 and 2,800, respectively, only two individuals had arrived by 9 am. Apart from those involved in election operations, they were the sole entrants within the following 15 minutes.

At Dhaka 13 Constituency's Ward No. 33 Basila polling station, voter turnout remained zero. Similarly, at Dhaka-11 Constituency's Badda Thana Ward-41 Dhaka Ideal School and College centre, the polling station stood completely vacant at 9.00 am. None of the six polling booths within the centre was manned by any agents, except for boat symbols.

A comparable scenario unfolded at Nazrul Shikkaloy Center and Prabhati Vidyaniketan Center of Ward-35 in Dhaka-12, lacking any voter presence. Additionally, Manipur Greenview High School Center of Dhaka-15 saw no voter.
