I found the North Korean model here: British observer Jez Coulson

Jez Coulson, a British observer invited and managed by the government to observe the 12th National Parliament election, commented that Bangladesh has a democratic system resembling North Korea. He made this statement during a private interview with Bangla Outlook at the Dhaka Reporters Unity Square on Sunday afternoon.

He said, 'I have come to Bangladesh for the first time to observe the national elections. I visited eight polling stations in the capital, Dhaka, all day. There were lots of people and a reckless movement of youth around the centre. They found me in many places and surrounded me. I asked them, 'Whether you are a voter or not? Where is the voter identification mark on your hand?' They couldn't show me that sign. Many people were present, but very few of them were voters.'

Mr. Coulson also remarked, "Bangladeshi people are very hospitable, and they tried to entertain me, but I reiterated that I came to observe the voting process. I'm here to do my job."

I observed many children casting their votes here for the first time. This is incredibly interesting. "I found here a long line but minimum voters. I think this may be one party election. No opposition. I didn't find any competition here. But the ruling party leaders and supporters were very active."

He also informed Bangla Outlook that he had not encountered any individuals boycotting the voting process anywhere. Additionally, he did not witness any instances of voters being blocked at any centre. I've heard that Russia and China support this election. However, from what I've observed, I don't see a semblance of democracy here. From the numerous centres I visited throughout the day, only 6 to 8 per cent of the votes have been cast. There is no room for more, as I did not witness a higher level of voter participation.
