Dhaka, Apr 22 (UNB) - Prominent Bangladeshi singer Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya on Monday received the prestigious Padma Shri Award by the Indian government.

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri Awards for the year 2024 at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-I held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries were present.

Padma Awards - one of the highest civilian Awards of India, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.

The Awards are given in various disciplines / fields of activities, viz.- art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.
