Election Commissioner (EC) Ahsan Habib Khan announced that immediate suspension of voting will be enforced at any polling station found to be involved in ballot rigging during the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections. Commissioner Khan emphasized that no form of violence surrounding the elections would be tolerated anywhere in the country.

He made these remarks during a meeting with field administration officers held at the Barisal District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Saturday morning (27 April). He expressed his determination to ensure free and fair elections for the Barisal Sadar and Bakerganj Upazila Parishads scheduled on 8 May. During this meeting, he provided various directives to the polling officers.

Responding to journalists' questions later, he asserted the commission's commitment to impartial and unrestricted voting, emphasizing that their efforts were not influenced by any bias. Present at the event were Barisal's Divisional Commissioner Shawkat Ali, Range DIG Jamil Hasan, Police Commissioner Jihadul Kabir, District Administrator Shahidul Islam, along with other senior local administrative officials.
