Today, on Monday, at 3 PM, the highest temperature of the season, 43 degrees Celsius, was recorded in Chuadanga. This is the highest temperature recorded in the district in the last 9 years, as stated by Jaminur Rahman, the acting officer of the Chuadanga Weather Office. He also mentioned that this is the highest temperature across the country today.
Jaminur Rahman further explained that this morning at 9 AM, the highest temperature in Chuadanga was recorded at 33.4 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 49 percent. By noon, the temperature rose to 40.5 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 16 percent. By 3 PM, the temperature further increased to 43 degrees Celsius, and the humidity dropped to 13 percent.
Jaminur Rahman said, 'Chuadanga has set a record for the highest temperature in the last 9 years. Previously, the highest temperature recorded in this district was 43.2 degrees Celsius on May 21, 2014. The current conditions may persist for the next two days.' He also noted that since 2002, the temperature in Chuadanga has reached 43 degrees Celsius or higher only three times, including June 2, 2005, when it was 43 degrees, and May 21, 2014, when it reached 43.2 degrees. And today, Monday, the temperature peaked again at 43 degrees Celsius.
He added that the high humidity, meaning a high amount of water vapor in the air, is making the heat feel muggy. There is intense sunshine during the day and muggy heat in the evening. As the day progresses, the temperature continues to rise.
Meanwhile, Mostafa Kamal Palash, a climate researcher at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, in his weather forecast, mentioned that clear skies are expected in seven divisions of the country on Monday. The ongoing heatwave may continue to affect various districts in Bangladesh and the state of West Bengal in India until May 2. However, the intensity of this ongoing heatwave is likely to gradually decrease starting from April 30.
He further mentioned that today, districts like Dhaka, Jessore, Chuadanga, Khulna, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, and Pabna might break their all-time temperature records."
