Government allocates Tk 2.65 trillion for FY25 development projects

The government has allocated Tk 2.65 trillion for the Annual Development Programme (ADP), with the transport and communication sector receiving the highest priority in funding.
On May 16, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, as Chairperson of the National Economic Council (NEC), approved a Tk 2.65 trillion ADP for FY25.
The total ADP outlay includes Tk 1.65 trillion from domestic sources and Tk 1 trillion from foreign sources, marking a slight increase from the Tk 2.63 trillion ADP for the outgoing FY24.
In addition to the Tk 2.65 trillion ADP, the NEC meeting approved a further Tk 132.8891 billion for autonomous bodies and corporations' ADP for FY25, bringing the total ADP to Tk 2.78 trillion.
Of this additional allocation, Tk 116.9896 billion will come from domestic sources and Tk 15.8995 billion from foreign sources.
The revised ADP encompasses 1,321 projects, including investments, feasibility studies, technical assistance, and projects specifically for autonomous bodies and corporations.
The highest allocated 10 sectors in the ADP for the next fiscal year (FY25) are: Transport and Communication Sector with an allocation of Tk 706.8775 billion (26.67%), Power and energy sector with Tk 407.5186 billion (15.38%), Education sector with Tk 315.2860 billion (11.36%), Housing and Community Facilities Sector with Tk 248.6803 billion (9.38%), Health Sector with Tk 206.8288 billion (7.80%), Local government and rural development sector with Tk 179.8621 billion (6.79%), Agriculture Sector with Tk 132.1959 billion (4.99%), Environment, climate change and water resources sector with Tk 110.8943 billion (4.18%), Industry and Economic services sector with Tk 64.9218 billion (2.45%), and Science and ICT Sector with Tk 47.8692 billion (1.25%).
