Natore,
June 22 (UNB)- Seven people were injured early today in a violent clash over
"establishing supremacy" at the Natore Bus Terminal, causing a
four-hour suspension of bus services.
Ehia Chowdhury, General
Secretary of the Natore Bus Owners Association, reported that an altercation
erupted around 11 pm between the owner of the Dhaka-bound bus 'Rajokio
Paribahan' and other bus owners over maintaining bus departure order.
The dispute escalated
when a group led by Khoka, manager of 'Rajokio Paribahan,' stormed the
terminal. They opened fire, injuring a worker named Subel, 26, with bullets,
said Ehia.
The attackers then
assaulted additional workers, resulting in six more injuries. All injured
individuals were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The bus services between
Dhaka and Natore were suspended for four hours following the attack. Upon
receiving information, Tariqul Islam, Superintendent of Natore Police, visited
the site and brought the situation under control.
Bus movement was restored
around 3 am after police intervention. Efforts to arrest the attackers are
ongoing, according to Superintendent Tariqul Islam.
