Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant specialists complete pre-licensing training

Pre-licensing training for specialists of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant's first unit has been completed at the project site.

The 48 Bangladeshi nuclear specialists, including operating personnel, chief engineers, and deputy chief engineers, will now undergo licensing by the Atomic Energy Regulation Agency of Bangladesh (BAERA).

The training was conducted by Rosatom Technical Academy, with Director Sergey Lyulin highlighting the comprehensive program's multiple stages.

After theoretical and practical training at the Academy and probation at Novovoronezh NPP in Russia, the specialists received six months of additional training at the Rooppur project site before the pre-licensing phase.

Throughout the training program, the specialists' knowledge was assessed at each stage based on ten criteria. Following successful completion, trainees were recommended for preliminary appointment.

Additionally, experts from Rosatom Technical Academy's Safety Culture and Personnel Reliability Competence Center assessed the specialists' personal traits and psycho-physiological properties using specialized psycho-diagnostic methods, a crucial step in ensuring professional suitability.

"The duration of training ranges from one to three years, depending on the level of responsibility of each position," explained Sergey Lyulin.

"This ensures that future specialists are fully prepared to operate the nuclear power plant safely and professionally," he said.
