Two Bangladeshis killed in shooting incident at Sylhet border
Two young Bangladeshi men were killed near the Kalairag border in Companyganj upazila, Sylhet, allegedly shot by Indian Khasi people from across the border.
The incident occurred around 6 pm on Sunday, approximately 800 yards inside Bangladeshi territory.
The victims were identified as Ali Hossain (30) and Kaosar Ahmed (25), both residents of the Kalairag area.
A member of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) media wing confirmed receiving reports of the incident.
The remoteness of the area is hindering the investigation, according to the police.
The victims were reportedly collecting firewood near the border when the shooting occurred.
The chairman of the local union council mentioned unconfirmed reports of additional injuries, and stated that the bodies remain at the scene of the crime.
