Six killed in clashes with Chhatra League and police across the country

At least six people have been killed in clashes during protests demanding quota reform in government jobs across Bangladesh.

Two deaths were reported in Dhaka, three in Chittagong, and one in Rangpur.

Dozens more have been injured in the capital, Dhaka, where clashes erupted on Tuesday afternoon between quota reform supporters, police, and members of Chhatra League and Juba League.

Conflict continues in several locations across the country.

In Chattagram, students protesting in the Muradpur area of Chittagong city were attacked this afternoon by armed individuals who reportedly fired guns and detonated explosives.

Students identified the attackers as leaders and activists from the Juba League and Chhatra League.

Three people have been killed in the clashes, including Mohammad Faruq, 32, a gas shop employee, and Mohammad Wasim, 22, a student at Chittagong College and a student union leader. At least 20 others have been hospitalized with injuries.

Doctors in Chittagong have confirmed that one of the deceased protesters, Faruk, suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the chest.

Another victim, Wasim, also showed signs of gunshot wounds, though the exact cause of death is still under investigation.

Meanwhile, in the capital city of Dhaka, two more young men, aged between 25 and 30, were killed in clashes between student protesters and members of the Juba League and Chhatra League near Dhaka College and the Sain Science Laboratory area.

Their identities have not yet been released.

One victim was severely beaten in front of Dhaka College and later died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Another critically injured individual was found near Dhaka City College and succumbed to his injuries after being transferred to Dhaka Medical.

In Rangpur, Abu Sayeed, a 22-year-old student and member of the quota reform coordination committee, was killed during clashes involving police and Chhatra League at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur.
