Four individuals were detained during a sit-in demonstration at Dhaka University by quota reform protesters
Four individuals, including a former Ducsu leader, were detained while attempting a sit-in at Dhaka University's TSC in support of quota reform and to protest the recent killings.
Police initially tried to disperse them, resorting to sound grenades when they refused to leave. Akhtar Hossain, the former Social Services Secretary of Ducsu, and three others were subsequently arrested.
The incident occurred near the Raju Sculpture. Police have not yet released a statement regarding the charges against the detainees.
Police officers on site refused to comment on the arrests. Reports suggest that several individuals, including journalists, were injured by sound grenades used during the incident.
One injured journalist, Channel S staff reporter Solaiman Kabir, criticized the unnecessary use of force.
Later, protesters held an absentee funeral at VC Chattar to mourn those who died in recent clashes and attacks during the quota reform demonstrations.
