From Riya Gope to PBI inspector, 17 killed in N'ganj during quota protests

Narayanganj,
Jul 30 (UNB): It has been confirmed that seventeen people have died due to
violence related to the quota protests in Narayanganj. The information was
gathered from various hospitals and through conversations with the injured and
the families of the deceased.
Among the deceased are a
police inspector, an SSC candidate, students, workers, artisans, and
businessmen.
Notably, Inspector Masud
Parvez (52) of the PBI, who was from Ishwarganj, Mymensingh, was killed during
an attack on protesters in Signboard, Narayanganj.
Family sources reported
that he was severely injured in the attack and died while receiving treatment
at Rajarbagh Police Hospital. He is one of three police officers to have been
killed during the protests nationwide.
Additionally, a
7-year-old girl named Riya Gope was killed by gunfire while playing on the roof
of her house in Noyamati, Narayanganj city. In Siddhirganj's Painadi New
Colony, Sumaiya Akhter Sumy (20), a housewife, was shot dead while on her
veranda.
Both Riya and Sumee are
understood to have died from stray bullets that were not meant to harm them
specifically.
Arafat Hossain Akash
(15), an SSC candidate, was also killed in the Siddhirganj clashes. In Kazi
Para on the Narayanganj-Dhaka Link Road, businessman Abdur Rahman (55) was shot
and killed.
Other victims include
Milan (38), Rakib (20), Sajib (20), Syed Mohammad Mustafa Kamal Raju (36),
Mehdi (20), Shaheen (23), Alauddin (35), Hriday (25), Sajol (22), Minarul Islam
(25), Selim Mondol (29), Salam Biswas, and Shahel (21).
