PM Hasina offers to sit with students amid escalating unrest

Dhaka, Aug 3 (UNB)-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said she
wants to sit with the leaders of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement to hear
their demands.
"I want to sit with
the protesters. I want to listen to them. Ganabhaban's gates are always open
for them," she said at a meeting with Peshaajibi Somannoy Parishat at
Ganabhaban on Saturday afternoon.
She also said that the new
pension scheme which the university teachers had rejected and demanded their
exclusion from it has been cancelled.
Besides, the police members
involved in Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayeed killing have been
suspended and they will be brought to book, said the prime minister.
