Curfew relaxation period canceled from 6 pm today; will continue indefinitely
The home ministry announced today (4 August) that the ongoing curfew will start at 6 p.m., and the previously scheduled relaxation period has been canceled indefinitely.
A press release from the home ministry's Public Relations Division was issued this afternoon regarding this change.
Previously, on 3 August, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal had announced a relaxation of the curfew from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Dhaka.
"The relaxation period of the curfew will be indefinitely canceled starting Monday [4 August]," the minister informed reporters following a meeting with senior law enforcement officials at his Dhanmondi residence.
He also stated, "All of the students' demands have been met," and urged the students to end their protests and return home.
