At least 119 people have been killed so far in the nationwide violence
Even before and after Sheikh Hasina fled the country amid weeks of violent protests, incidents of gunfire have continued.
As of this report at 11:25 PM, at least 119 people have died in clashes nationwide, with most fatalities occurring before and after Hasina's departure. Many of these confrontations began with attacks on police stations.
Dhaka has recorded the highest number of deaths, with 71 reported across five hospitals. In Lakshmipur, the highest daily death toll has reached 11.
Seven bodies were recovered from in front of former Jubo League leader and Sadar upazila Chairman AKM Salah Uddin Tipu's house in the Tamiz Market area.
Earlier on Sunday, at least three bodies were brought to the Lakhshmipur Sadar Hospital morgue from various locations. Another person died en route to Dhaka while being transported in an injured state.
In Gazipur, at least two people were killed and over 200 injured when Ansar members fired shots at those attacking the Ansar Academy.
Witnesses reported that a furious mob vandalized two main gates and the entrance of the Ansar VDP Academy in Safipur, Kaliakair upazila. In response, Ansar members fired in self-defense, leading to the deaths confirmed by Dr. Saddam Hossain of Safipur Modern Hospital.
Additionally, one person died in Rajshahi amidst clashes that injured 80. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Sakib Anjum.
The clashes began around 12:00 PM in the Alupotti area of the city as crowds started to gather.
Dr. Shankar K. Bishwas, in charge of the emergency department at Rajshahi Medical College, reported, "Approximately 80 people were admitted to the hospital, with at least 35 suffering from bullet wounds. Their conditions are critical."
In another incident, six more people were killed in a clash in Habiganj.
According to UNB, citing doctors at the Upazila Health Complex, the clash occurred in Baniachang upazila. The deceased have been identified as Hasan, 12; Ashraful, 17; Muzakkir, 40; Nayan, 18; Tofazzal, 18; and Sadikur, 30.
Dr. Shamima Akter of Baniachang Upazila Health Complex stated that the protesters had organized a procession from LR High School earlier in the morning.
In Barishal, three bodies were discovered in the burnt house of Awami League leader and former Barishal city mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah. This afternoon, hundreds of attackers surrounded and set the house on fire.
Due to extensive damage from the blaze, the identities of the deceased remain unknown.
Md. Bashir Uddin, a firefighter with the Fire Service and Civil Defense, confirmed the deaths. Sadiq Abdullah was at the scene but managed to escape with his followers.
In Jashore, a hotel owned by District Awami League General Secretary Shaheen Chakladar was torched, resulting in the deaths of 13 people.
Harun Or Rashid, a supervisor at Jashore General Hospital, reported, "We recovered six bodies from the fire, and twenty people were taken out injured."
In Kushtia, six people, including a 13-year-old, were killed.
At the final stage of the unrest, six people, including children, were killed and many others were injured when police opened fire in Kushtia.
The casualties occurred as police responded to a group attacking the Kushtia Model Police Station.
Eyewitnesses reported that around 12:30 PM, police chased protesters at Majampur Gate in the city. During this confrontation, the police used tear gas and blank rounds to disperse the crowd.
After 1 PM, another faction of protesters launched an attack on the station. Despite the police's use of tear gas and live ammunition, the attempt to disperse the protesters was unsuccessful.
The deceased include Yusuf Ali (70), Abdullah (13), Babu (40), and Ashraf (42), while the identities of the other victims remain unknown
