Two BCL leaders, and Palak were stopped at the airport from going abroad
Tanbir Hasan Shaikat, General Secretary of the Dhaka University branch of the Chhatra League, and Riaz Mahmood, President of the Dhaka North City Chhatra League, were denied permission to travel abroad. According to airport sources, the two Chhatra League leaders arrived at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this afternoon to leave the country. However, they were stopped by immigration authorities. Both leaders are accused of leading an attack on students at Dhaka University during the quota reform movement on July 15. On that day, there were multiple assaults on students, including violence against female students. Some leaders and activists from the Chhatra League and Jubo League were reportedly armed during the attacks. With Sheikh Hasina's resignation on Monday, her government has fallen. She stepped down and left the country in the face of mass protests. Discussions are underway to form an interim government. Meanwhile, there have been incidents of vandalism and arson at the Awami League's central office and various district and sub-district offices. Reports also include assaults on leaders, killings, and arson attacks on homes. Awami League leaders are now in hiding, with some having managed to leave the country. Today, former Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was reportedly detained at the airport, followed by the news of the two Chhatra League leaders being stopped. —-
