Joy cautions Brig (Retd) Sakhawat about facing the same fate as his mother

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, has recently attracted significant attention by giving numerous interviews to various media outlets, primarily Indian ones.

He is also notably active on social media, where he shares what independent observers have criticized as "hysterical" and "misleading" information.

On social media, Joy claimed that the newly appointed Home Affairs Advisor "has been threatened with the same fate as his mother."

Earlier that day, after meeting with leaders of the Sanatan Hindu community at the Secretariat, Home Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) M. Sakhawat Hossain told reporters that the Awami League should be restructured with new faces and assured that the Home Ministry would assist in this process.

Joy, interpreting Brigadier General (Retd.) Sakhawat’s message in his own way, suggested that the Home Advisor had advocated for the Awami League to overhaul itself with new leadership while also emphasizing the party's pivotal role in Bangladesh's independence.

He said the same 'mob' that ousted his mother has now threatened the Home Advisor with consequences similar to those faced by his mother.

It is to be noted that in response to the Home Advisor's comments,  Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said, "We want to remind the advisers that you became advisers through a student-people's uprising.”

“Before making your statements, remember the situation at Gono Bhaban on August 5. We want to caution you about the rehabilitation of murderers; just as we removed the autocrats from power, it will not take long to remove those attempting to rehabilitate them."

Another coordinator, Sarjess Alam, said, "We have come today to warn you about a few matters. Since the day after the removal of the autocracy on August 5, certain conspiratorial elements have been trying to stage a coup.”

“We, the students and people, suppressed it, and after their last attempt at a judicial coup, we were able to thwart it with your tireless efforts. Now, a group is still conspiring to undermine our revolution. We will not allow their plans to succeed," Alam added.
