Sakhawat no longer in Home Affairs: Major changes in advisers' responsibilities

In a significant development, the Interim Government today unveiled a cabinet reshuffle following the appointment of four new advisers.

The changes include key portfolio reassignments and the induction of new faces into the cabinet.

Wahiduddin Mahmud, who was recently sworn in, has been entrusted with the crucial Ministry of Planning and Education.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General (Retd.) M. Sakhowat Hossain has been shifted from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

Taking charge of the critical Home Affairs Ministry is Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. In addition to his role as Home Affairs Minister, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury will also oversee the Ministry of Agriculture.

Among the newly appointed advisers, Ali Imam Majumdar has been given the prominent position of Chief Adviser.

Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan has been assigned the challenging portfolios of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, along with Road Transport and Bridges, and Railways.

These changes reflect the Interim Government's commitment to effective governance and its efforts to leverage the expertise of its new advisers.

Among the previous advisers, Salehuddin Ahmed has been appointed to oversee both the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Commerce, after previously managing the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

Professor Asif Nazrul now handles the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, and the Ministry of Culture.

Adilur Rahman Khan is responsible for the Ministry of Industries as well as the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan will manage the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, along with the Ministry of Water Resources.

Md. Nahid Islam has been given oversight of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, in addition to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuiyan will be in charge of both the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Additionally, Faruk-e-Azam will oversee the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.

Following the collapse of Sheikh Hasina's government due to student-led protests, an interim government was established on August 8 with Dr. Muhammad Yunus appointed as Chief Adviser.

Today, the four newly sworn-in advisers joined the existing 17-member interim government.

Earlier, at 4:11 p.m., President Md. Shahabuddin administered the oaths to the new advisers in the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, as Chief Adviser, oversees the Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Food, and Ministry of Public Administration, among other ministries and divisions.

The other advisers are Hasan Arif, responsible for Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives; Md. Tauhid Hossain, in charge of Foreign Affairs; Sharmin S. Morshed, handling Social Welfare; Supradip Chakma, focusing on Chittagong Hill Tracts; Bidhan Ranjan Ray, overseeing Primary and Mass Education; A.F.M.
