UNDP restates full support for interim government
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has reiterated its strong commitment to supporting the interim government's emerging national priorities in Bangladesh. "Please rely on our global and regional networks, as well as our expertise in economic recovery and institutional strengthening, to assist Bangladesh during this crucial transition period," UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner stated in a letter to Chief Adviser and Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus on Friday. "On behalf of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), I extend my heartfelt congratulations on your appointment as the Hon'ble Chief Adviser of the interim Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh," Steiner said. "I wish you and the Advisory Council great success as you lead your nation through a peaceful, just, and democratic transition towards a more inclusive and prosperous future for all Bangladeshis," he added. Steiner expressed his support and enthusiasm for Prof Yunus's significant role, wishing him well at every stage of this journey. "Please count on our full support, particularly through our UNDP Country Office in Bangladesh, led by Stefan Liller," he concluded. —
