Rosatom, the Russian state-owned agency overseeing the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project in Bangladesh, rejects media claims alleging that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family misappropriated $5 billion from the country’s first nuclear power project.

In a press release, Rosatom denounces these false media allegations as attempts to discredit the Rooppur NPP project, which aims to meet Bangladesh’s energy needs and improve the well-being of its people.

"Rosatom is committed to transparency and anti-corruption across all its projects, maintaining a transparent procurement process. External audits consistently confirm the openness of our business practices. The Rosatom State Corporation stands ready to defend its interests and reputation through legal means," the statement reads.
