The shipment of equipment for the automated process control systems (APCS) for Unit-1 and Unit-2 of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant has been dispatched from Russia and is expected to arrive at the site shortly.

The equipment was manufactured by the Specialized Scientific Research Institute for Instrumentation Engineering (SNIIP), a subsidiary of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation.

The cargo includes 15 units of radiation monitoring systems (ARMS) for Power Unit 1 and 8 units for Power Unit 2, developed specifically to meet the project's unique requirements.

Additionally, approximately 300 individual dosimetry units and a batch of filter holders are scheduled to be shipped by the end of this year.

Alexander Kartsev, Chief Executive Officer of SNIIP, emphasized the significance of this shipment, stating, "The equipment of automated radiation monitoring systems as a single package is going to be delivered to the Rooppur NPP site.”

“This solution is used for the first time for the Rooppur project. The dosimeters and other individual dosimetry means for the NPP personnel will be shipped to Bangladesh by the end of this year, but the main hardware will already be at the project site by that time. We are very happy to have the systems, which are to play a key role in the preparation for the startup," he added.

Earlier shipments from SNIIP included equipment for continuous radiation monitoring of rooms, detection units, and process radiation monitoring devices.

A software and hardware complex for a unique individual dosimetric monitoring system has also been delivered, designed to collect data from dosimeters used by NPP personnel during inspections and other activities.

Additional peripheral equipment, such as information processing hardware, radioactive contamination monitoring tools, and laboratory equipment, has also been sent to the site.

The automated radiation monitoring system (ARMS) is designed to collect, process, record, and display data on radiation parameters of controlled objects, and is utilized in various facilities including nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel cycle enterprises, radioactive waste storage and processing facilities, and research centers.
