A mass grave containing the remains of 127 individuals killed during a public uprising has been identified at Rayerbazar graveyard in Dhaka.
The announcement was made today by Rifat Rashid, coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, following a visit to the site.
The grave is believed to contain victims of the July revolution, a period of widespread political unrest and violence.
Spokesperson for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Umama Fatema, emphasized that many families are still searching for missing loved ones.
She accused those responsible for the killings of attempting a cover-up and criticized the government for its inaction in identifying the mass graves.
Fatema called upon the caretaker government to utilize modern technology, such as DNA testing, to identify the remains and provide closure to grieving families.
Arif Sohel, Member Secretary of the movement, urged political parties to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the martyrs and to reject fascism.
He expressed hope that political parties would prioritize the will of the people.
Rifat Rashid further alleged that political parties are actively working to rehabilitate the Awami League, a move that has drawn criticism from those who hold the party responsible for the violence.
