A 50-ton capacity bridge crane for the second unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is now ready for shipment from the Russian port of Novorossiysk.

Earlier, modern electric gantry cranes with lifting capacities of 16 and 32 tons were also delivered to the port.

These cranes, manufactured in Russia, will be used for loading and unloading operations at the Rooppur project.

Before shipment, specialists from the Rosatom Engineering Division and VPO ZAES conducted a thorough inspection of all components to ensure they met high-quality and safety standards.

“We adhere to strict quality and reliability standards. The supply of equipment to the Rooppur NPP highlights our company’s ability to execute complex tasks within international projects,” said Vladimir Popov, Deputy General Director of Atomenergoremont.

Atomenergoremont is part of the Rosenergoatom management structure within the Electric Power Division of the Rosatom State Corporation.

It is the primary maintenance company for Russia’s nuclear industry, acting as the general contractor for the maintenance and repair of equipment at nuclear power plants and other industrial and energy enterprises.

Bangladesh’s first-ever nuclear power plant is being developed at Rooppur with technical and financial support from Russia.

The plant will feature two units, each with a 1,200 MWe capacity and 3+ generation VVER 1200 reactors.

The first unit is preparing for fuel loading and is set to start operations in the near future.
