In a sign of improving diplomatic engagement, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maroof, met with Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary, Ambassador Md. Jashim Uddin, on Sunday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting followed the recent sixth round of Foreign Secretary-level Bilateral Consultations between the two countries, held on April 17 in Dhaka.

Officials from both sides described the talks as constructive and underscored their commitment to deepening cooperation across a range of areas.

They also emphasized the need for sustained dialogue and follow-up by respective authorities on key issues discussed.

During the meeting, Mr. Maroof briefed the Bangladeshi side on current regional developments and outlined the activities of a visiting high-level Pakistani business delegation.

The delegation, focused on sector-specific trade opportunities, is participating in the Bangladesh-Pakistan Business Forum in Dhaka.

Both countries expressed optimism about a future visit by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, with hopes that the trip will be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time.
