BJIM condemn targeted attacks on journalists amid Israel-Iran conflict

The Bangladeshi Journalists in International Media (BJIM) has expressed profound concern over the recent escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict, which has led to the tragic deaths of at least four journalists and media personnel.

According to credible reports, Israeli airstrikes have targeted multiple newsrooms in Tehran, including an attack during a live broadcast, resulting in the loss of lives among journalists and media workers .

In a statement, BJIM mourned the loss of journalists and reiterated its call for the highest standards of safety and protection for journalists operating worldwide, especially in conflict zones.

The organization emphasized the importance of press freedom and the need for journalists to work without fear of targeted attacks.

BJIM has called for an impartial, international investigation to determine the reasons behind the targeting of media establishments and to hold those responsible accountable under international law.

The organization also expressed unwavering solidarity with fellow journalists reporting from danger zones, including Tehran, Gaza, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and other regions where press freedom and journalist safety are under severe threat.

The Israel-Iran conflict has seen significant military escalations, with Israeli airstrikes targeting key Iranian infrastructure, including nuclear facilities and military sites.

These developments have raised concerns about the broader implications for regional stability and international security.
