Rosatom cleared to supply equipment for Hungary’s Paks II nuclear power plant

Rosatom’s Mechanical Engineering Division has received official approval to supply equipment for the nuclear islands of Units 5 and 6 of Hungary’s Paks II Nuclear Power Plant, a key step in advancing the project’s construction.

The authorization came after a detailed inspection by the Paks II project authority, which confirmed the Division’s full compliance with nuclear equipment manufacturing standards.

With this clearance, Rosatom’s Mechanical Engineering Division can now deliver major components for the nuclear island, all of which are being produced at its high-tech manufacturing sites.

Currently, Rosatom’s enterprises are engaged in producing VVER-1200 reactors for the two new power units of Paks II.

Fabrication of metallurgical workpieces for Unit 5 began in 2024, and production for Unit 6 followed in 2025. The same year also saw the launch of manufacturing reactor internals for Unit 5.

Prior to the start of production, all Rosatom facilities involved in the Paks II project successfully secured the necessary nuclear qualification certificates and licenses, ensuring full adherence to international safety and quality standards.
