International entrepreneur and philanthropist Fareed Nabir has been appointed Co-Chairman of the Switzerland-based Telesio-Galilei Academy of Science (TGAS), a global scientific association known for promoting open inquiry and challenging conventional scientific boundaries.

The appointment was confirmed in a letter from TGAS Founding Father Francesco Fucilla, who said the Academy was “delighted” to welcome Nabir to its leadership.

Founded in 2007, TGAS champions scientific creativity and the free exchange of ideas free from political or economic influence.

The Academy is recognised for encouraging research that pushes beyond traditional thinking across physics, chemistry, biology and emerging scientific fields.

Each year it honours scientists whose work demonstrates exceptional merit and advances global knowledge.

As Co-Chairman, Nabir will collaborate with TGAS leadership and partner institutions worldwide to promote scientific openness, support frontier research and strengthen international collaboration.

The Academy’s mandate aligns with Nabir’s long-standing engagement in innovation, education and humanitarian advancement.

“Science moves forward when ideas are allowed to breathe—tested, debated and even disagreed with,” Nabir said.

“The Telesio-Galilei Academy has always upheld this spirit of openness, and I am honoured to contribute to its mission. This role allows me to support global scientific progress while ensuring Bangladesh plays a stronger part in the world’s intellectual landscape.”

Nabir’s appointment comes amid several high-profile initiatives. His venture Asteroids Mining LLC aims to position Bangladesh in the global space technology arena, while Nabir Vectrance Global advises major energy-sector projects with international engineering and sustainability standards.

Through the Nabir Foundation, he is also establishing an orphanage for women and girls in Sylhet, offering education, care and vocational training.

His new role at TGAS is expected to further strengthen Bangladesh’s footprint in international research, academia and innovation.
