Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council mourns death of veteran politician Tofail Ahmed

The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran politician and freedom fighter Tofail Ahmed, who passed away at the age of 82 while undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in Dhaka.

In a statement issued to the media, the Council described Tofail Ahmed as one of the key organizers of Bangladesh’s Liberation War, a senior statesman, and a courageous leader in the movements for democracy and human rights. 

The organization noted that his lifelong contributions to the nation, democratic values, and public service would be remembered with respect and gratitude.

The statement was jointly signed by the Council’s Presidium members Ushatan Talukdar, Dr. Nim Chandra Bhowmik, and Nirmal Rozario, along with Acting General Secretary Monindra Kumar Nath.

The Council prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and loved ones of the late leader. 

It also acknowledged his enduring legacy and the significant role he played in Bangladesh’s political and democratic development.

The statement was conveyed by Monindra Kumar Nath, Acting General Secretary of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council.
