Unity Council condemns threats against Ram Idol, calls for action against communal incitement
The Unity Council has strongly condemned reported threats to demolish the idol of Lord Ram at the Radhagobinda Temple in Palashbari, Gaibandha, as well as the alleged desecration of an image of Lord Ram during a rally by a communal group in Dhaka.
The organization described these incidents as a grave insult to the Hindu faith and a dangerous attack on religious harmony.
In a statement, Unity Council leaders said that a well-known communal group has, in recent days, been spreading hostility against minority communities through threats to destroy the idol of Lord Ram in Palashbari and through coordinated campaigns using various slogans and tags across the capital and other parts of the country.
They warned that such actions could escalate into widespread communal violence if left unchecked.
The leaders stressed that provocative activities aimed at inciting religious tensions are unacceptable and pose a serious threat to social stability and national unity.
Given the situation, the Unity Council has urged the government to take immediate and effective measures to curb communal extremist elements and ensure the preservation of religious harmony at both local and national levels.
The organization also called on all secular citizens, civil society groups, and political parties to unite in protest and resistance against communal hatred and divisive activities.
