Protest rally and torch march held at Dhaka University over alleged desecration of Hindu religious symbols
The Bangladesh Chhatra Oikya Parishad organized a protest rally and torch march at 8:00 PM on June 14 in front of the Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University, condemning alleged threats to vandalize the idol of Lord Ram at the Radhagobinda Temple in Palashbari, Gaibandha, and the reported desecration of Lord Ram’s image by members of a communal group.
Organizers said the incidents had deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community and amounted to an act of religious disrespect.
Speakers at the rally expressed concern over what they described as repeated attempts to undermine communal harmony by targeting religious sentiments.

They alleged that the reported insult to Lord Ram’s image was part of a broader effort by extremist elements to spread hatred against minority communities across the country.
The speakers emphasized that such incidents not only offend the beliefs of a particular religious community but also threaten social cohesion, mutual respect, and interfaith harmony.
Leaders of the Chhatra Oikya Parishad called on the government and law enforcement agencies to conduct an impartial investigation into the allegations and ensure exemplary punishment for those found responsible.

Among those who addressed the gathering were Palash Kanti Dey of the Minority Unity Alliance, Pradip Kanti Dey and Rajesh Naha of the Hindu Youth Grand Alliance, Piyush Das of the Bangladesh Sanatan Mahasangha, Advocate Suman Roy of the Bangladesh Sanatan Party, Rajib Chandra Saha of the Hindu Students’ Grand Alliance, Nitai Debnath of the Jago Hindu Parishad, and Chhatra Oikya Parishad leaders Sajib Sarkar, Anik Majumdar, Sushanta Mohanta, and Dipankar Shil.
The protest march began at the foot of the Raju Memorial Sculpture and concluded in front of the National Museum in Dhaka.
