Tarique Rahman on the occasion of Christmas

Tarique Rahman

“May the spirit of Christmas forge a harmonious world built upon justice, tolerance, and pluralism. Let’s collectively strive for peace, prosperity, and the universal protection of rights and freedoms,” stated Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of BNP, in a speech commemorating the birthday of Jesus Christ.

Extending wishes and congratulations to all Christians worldwide, including those in Bangladesh, on Christmas, he remarked that Jesus arrived to illuminate God’s glory and lead humanity towards the pursuit of truth, justice, forgiveness, and mercy. Hence, this day holds immense glory and significance for all Christians across the globe.

The fundamental principle of all religions revolves around harmony, peace, and human welfare. Historically, remarkable individuals have guided people towards righteousness, justice, and virtue. Similarly, Jesus Christ encouraged his followers to engage in benevolent actions and uphold principles of justice.

He emphasised that Christmas is a universal religious festival, embodying the essence shared by all such celebrations—mutual love, coexistence, and benevolence. Hence, Christians honour this day as a moment of joy and liberation.

“As human beings, it is incumbent upon us to labour for the collective welfare of our state, society, and its people, each from our respective positions. All individuals are responsible for fostering societal peace, eschewing hatred and violence, and eradicating all forms of injustice. Understanding the philosophies and teachings of eminent figures allows us to contribute meaningfully to human welfare. By embracing this understanding, we can strive towards achieving God’s satisfaction.”
