Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun announced that a tragic fire at the 'Kacchi Bhai Restaurant' building on Bailey Road in Bangladesh claimed the lives of 44 individuals. He disclosed this information while addressing reporters at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 2:30 am on Thursday.

According to the IGP, the casualties were distributed: one individual at Rajarbagh Central Police Lines Hospital, 33 at DMK Hospital, and ten at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.

Before this, Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen had reported 43 fatalities from the incident.

Reflecting on the grim situation, IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun stated, "Upon receiving the news, I promptly arrived at the scene as instructed by the Prime Minister. Witnessing the devastation firsthand it's heart-wrenching. As of now, ten individuals have succumbed to their injuries at the Burn Institute, while 33 have lost their lives at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Many survivors are grappling with severe airway burns. It's a tragic scenario, and efforts are underway to rescue and treat those who managed to survive."
