On the first Friday of Ramadan, pilgrims flock to the mosque, offer special prayers

The importance of Friday prayers in the holy month of Ramadan is immense for Muslims. Therefore, more worshipers participate in Friday prayers in Ramadan than at other times. One of the largest Friday congregations in the capital is held at Baitul Mukarram Mosque. The worshipers started coming to the mosque before the scheduled time to participate in the prayers. Immediately after the call to prayer, the mosque was filled to the brim. The countrymen performed the first Friday prayer of the holy month of Ramadan on Friday. The blessed Juma falls in the fourth day of fasting of 'first ten days of mercy'.

In Baitul Mukarram people of different ages started coming to the mosque from 11:30 am. The main building of the mosque was full around 12:30 noon. As a result, hundreds of worshipers prayed outside as there was no space inside the mosque.

Muslim Uddin is among those who come to pray Friday prayers in the mosque. He told reporters that he came from Shantinagar to pray at the National Mosque. He said, "today is the first Friday of fasting, so he has come early to please Allah. If you are late, you will not get a place. Pray for the family and the countrymen and the Muslim world that Allah accepts everyone."

Another worshiper said, "Today is the first Friday of fasting, so I left early. The amount of reward is very high on Fridays in the month of Ramadan. So I finished work and left. May Allah accept us all."

A Muslim from Moghbazar said, "Usually I pray Friday prayers in the local mosque. However, I wanted to pray the first Friday of Ramadan in Baitul Mukarram, so I came." Later the devout Muslims participated in prayers for the welfare of family, country and nation. At this time, special prayers were offered for the development and prosperity of the country.

Meanwhile, policemen are seen on alert from Paltan Mor to Baitul Mukarram to strengthen security and prevent untoward incidents.
