Bangladesh is unsafe. The country is unsafe physically, economically, socially and in every other aspect. The utter failure and extreme corruption of the current regime, which has oppressed people’s rights, has put the country in jeopardy.
The borders are under great threat. Over the last few days some brazen bank heists have been orchestrated in Bandarban. Not only money but also arms were looted. It seems that a certain separatist group was behind the notorious act. The group gets support and shelter from India and Myanmar and the border areas of both those countries are volatile.
The group, which is formed by the people of an ethnic group called Bom, was even caught training some Islamist Jihadist last year. They may have connections with some Burmese separatist groups as well as Indian ones. And the recent activities prove it is stimulated to make the frontier area risky.
It is understood many parties have interest of making the strategic and geo-politically crucial territory vulnerable. The current regime with its kowtow policy to India will not be able to keep peace and stability in that area. China and the US have interest as in the region Myanmar and the Bay of Bengal could be vital in the coming years.
Not only the borders in the hill tracts, we have also seen the killings in northern borders of Bangladesh continues as India pays very little heed.
The economy is in a shambles. The price of essentials has skyrocketed and even the middle-class people are struggling to merely survive let alone the poor. The government meanwhile continues to make irrational contracts in mega projects and allowing money laundering that has depleted the foreign reserves.
Social unrest is increasing. The uncertainty and bleak future in every aspect is making people anxious.
Bangladesh is in grave danger of completely falling apart.
