Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Tarique Rahman, affirmed that the party's movement will continue until a people's government is established in the country.

"The conspiracy has not yet ceased; it is ongoing," Tarique stated. He criticized some local political parties for making misleading statements and falling into the traps set by neighboring countries.

"We must break the fangs of all conspiracies and establish democracy and people's rights," he added.

Tarique delivered these remarks as the virtual chief guest at a public meeting organized by the Kolaroa Upazila and Municipal BNP, held at the Kolaroa High School football field in Satkhira district on Sunday afternoon.

The meeting was chaired by Habibul Islam Habib, the recently released former Member of Parliament and BNP’s Central Publication Secretary.

In his keynote address, Tarique outlined the party's focus on production and development. “BNP's politics revolves around harnessing the full potential of our country,” he said, “Even though I am 6,000 miles away, my thoughts remain firmly with Bangladesh.”

He highlighted the need to address concerns related to the shrimp farming embankments in Satkhira by strengthening and reinforcing them. “Every district in the country has untapped potential that needs to be identified and utilized,” he added.

Emphasizing the importance of an elected government, Tarique noted, “Only a people's government can truly address the needs of the people. Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, elected by the people, invested in canals for farmers. Begum Khaleda Zia provided free books for students. Only a people's government can secure the rights of the people.”

He also addressed ongoing political challenges, stating, “While tyranny may have fallen, conspiracies persist. We are determined to dismantle all conspiracies and work with nationalist forces to secure democracy and people's rights.”

Tarique criticized some political parties for falling into traps set by neighboring countries and making misleading statements. “We must remain vigilant. The BNP’s movement will persist until democracy and the people's voting rights are restored,” he stressed.

He further commented on the oppression faced by the people of Bangladesh, noting, “For over a decade, the entire nation has suffered. The people of Kalaiya, Satkhira, are a testament to this. Through two decades of struggle, we have removed autocracy from the country.”

Regarding the establishment of a people's government, Tarique stated, “There is only one path to establish a people's government. Throughout this movement, millions of BNP supporters have been killed, disappeared, or faced legal cases. Although the tyrant has fled, the political rights of the people are still unfulfilled. Our movement will continue until a people's government is in place.”

In his address, Habibur Rahman Habib reminisced about past events, stating, “In this very field, Begum Khaleda Zia delivered seven speeches. Today, her successor, Tarique Rahman, has spoken here as the future statesman. After being imprisoned with a 70-year sentence, I am grateful for my release.” Habib broke down in tears while praying for Begum Khaleda Zia’s good health.

Other notable speakers included Central Information Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, Rangpur Division’s Associate Organizing Secretary Abdul Khaleq, Khulna Division’s Associate Organizing Secretary Joyanta Kumar Kundu, BNP Chairperson’s Press Wing Officer Shamsuddin Didar, National Executive Committee member Dr. Shahidul Alam, former MP Kazi Alauddin, Shahannara Akhter Bakul, Joint Convener of Satkhira District BNP Tariqul Hasan, and Ainul Islam Nanta.
