U.S. students pledge to continue anti-Israel protests

Anti-Israel protests have spread across universities in the United States. Many of the protesting students have clashed with the riot police, and several hundred activists have been arrested. Despite this, students have declared their intention to continue the movement. According to a report by the Associated Press (AP), such events are unfolding.

Meanwhile, students involved in the movement at Columbia University have taken a temporary position after clashes with the police.

On the other hand, representatives of pro-Palestinian students from the New York school campus are continuing discussions with Columbia University authorities. The ongoing talks saw some progress last Friday when the university's senate passed a resolution establishing a task force. This task force will investigate any university administration's leadership involvement in calling the police to the protest site last week, as the arrival of police led to clashes and the arrest of numerous students. Following these incidents of clashes and arrests, student movements have spread throughout universities in the United States.

Representatives of the students positioned at Columbia campus have stated that there has been little progress in their discussions with the university administration, which has reached a stalemate. Therefore, they will continue their movement.

After meetings on Thursday and Friday, student leaders said that the university authorities have not accepted their primary demand to sever ties with Israeli-linked companies or businesses. However, there has been progress regarding the demand for more transparency in financial transactions. Jonathan Ben-Menachem, a fourth-year PhD student, stated, "We will not stop until Israeli businesses leave Columbia."

The main demand of the protesting students is that universities must sever ties with companies or businesses associated with Israel because these activities are benefiting Israel in its conflict with Hamas.
