'It's a mission for China to reunite Taiwan'

Beijing, Mar 10 ( UNB): Dean of the Taiwan Research Institute at Peking University, Professor at the University of International Relations Li Yihu said it is a mission for China to reunite Taiwan with China’s mainland according to the constitution.

The Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Fourteenth National People's Congress ( NPC) expressed China’s strong and steadfast position during a dialogue with delegates and journalists from overseas media.

"Taiwan is a part of China, an inseparable part as well. We are seeking the reunification of the part with mainland China. We strongly believe in peaceful reunification and negotiation," he said.

The Jiangsu delegation member said they are trying to find a solution to achieve the goal. NPC will have to perform to introduce a one country system for the enforcement of the anti-segregation law.

Mentioning the relationship with 180 countries with China, the Professor said these countries always believe in China’s approach and support us. No country shows any reaction about the issue.

He also emphasised that their diplomatic relationship is very strong and excellent with the other country.

Yihu said those who criticise the 'one country, two systems' policy of China have limited knowledge about the policy.

"The system is working very well. We have successfuly performed in this issue. You can experience the issue of Hongkong and Macau which are living example," he said.

He is committed to the research on the Taiwan question and international relations.
